It sounds like you're doing lots of good work, both as a writer and as an advocate for the importance of preserving family stories. Good for you. I host a monthly RS gathering at my house that continues to grow. We sit around my kitchen table and read the stories we've written during the previous month. It has been a great way for all of us to connect with each other on a deeper level. I wish you well with all of your worthwhile activities. I’m glad you found it, too. My husband and I took your classes at BYU Education week in 2007, bought your book, and have used it for encouragement and writing tips as we work on our histories. I love family stories. My four sisters and I write and share a memory story each Christmas as our gifts to each other. A few months ago our Relief Society started a monthly Personal Hiistory Writing class where we share stories and cheer each other on. I'm going to advertise your blog there. I'm so glad I found it. One of our members highly recommended you after attending one of your presentations. We feature 2 speakers each Friday in the college Board Room at 1 pm and 2:30 pm. We have June 2012 dates open or we can schedule for next quarter; i.e., July-Aug-Sept for one-hour presentations. As part of the college foundation, we can't offer an honorarium; however, your books are most welcome. We've enjoyed many authors, and they have experienced brisk book sales, as well. Our present program can be found on the college website: www.miracosta.edu (Community, Programs for Seniors; LIFE - Learning is for Everyone; Oceanside LIFE calendar). Please let me know asap if you would be available to speak to our group - attendees average 65-70 each week (membership=160).
