Where I’ve Been…
It has been some time since I’ve posted. It’s not that I haven’t been thinking about it. Actually, I’ve been spending my blog time migrating my website from Yahoo to Bluehost and my blog from Blogger to WordPress. It hasn’t been as seamless I envisioned. Is it ever? There have been lots of glitches along the way and a big learning curve for me. I still don’t have all the kinks worked out, but I’m learning as I go along. I like the look of my new Thesis theme, which has more bells and whistles and substantial customizing capability. It’s required me to stretch myself big time and develop a working knowledge (still in the development stage) of the functions of cascading style sheets, hooks, plugins, and more, that may come easy for some of you reading this.
By the way, if you need a great company to help you move your website from one host to another, I recommend ezsitemove. Mike in their support department went the extra mile to ensure everything on my website worked exactly as it should.
Spring Term Begins…
At the same time, my spring term at Santiago Canyon College has begun, with 35-40 students enrolled in each class! I’ve picked up many new students this term, which is always a lot of fun for me and energizing for the returning students who benefit from new ideas and new stories. Look for my weekly posting of student stories that I think teach good writing techniques.
In our first class this term, I was gratified to learn that a number of students have committed recently to writing on a regular basis. Some are writing every night while their spouse watches television and are finding that their writing has become both easier and better. To encourage others to follow suit, I discussed a motivating article I found at Write to Done that lists ways people can make writing a habit. You can find the article here.
